This consultation is seeking views on the aims, objectives and actions that will sit under the new National Litter and Flytipping Strategy for Scotland. These proposed actions sit within three strategic themes that were agreed by stakeholders: Behaviour change, Services and infrastructure, and Enforcement. Have your say here:

Women’s Safety Survey

Wise Women, in partnership with Glasgow Girls Club, Commonplace and Glasgow Violence Against Women’s Partnership, have launched a women’s safety survey in the city. This survey is an opportunity to inform us of women’s experiences of harassment and abuse in public spaces in the city. 

Women are being asked to highlight areas where they have felt unsafe on a “Heatmap”, developed by Commonspace. They are then asked a series of questions and have multiple choice answers as well as space to include their own comments. Women can access the heatmap by going to The survey is open until 1st March 2022 to any woman who experiences harassment and / or abuse in Glasgow.


Let’s take care of our home – multilingual visual resource

Following a request from a group of residents, we worked with local people and colleagues from Govanhill Housing Association, to create a multilingual poster with simple visuals to help residents keep their closes and backcourts clean. It contains information like where and how to store personal items and the correct way to dispose of rubbish. Bedbugs – help and advice

Glasgow CIty Council have released flyers offering advice and information about bed bugs. Contact Glasgow City Council Pest Control on 0141 287 1059 (press 4). You can also contact your GP if you think you have been bitten or have suffered ill health as a result of bed bugs in your property. 


Free Bus Travel for Under-22s 

From 31 January, young people aged 5- 22 can apply for a National Entitlement Card (NEC) or Young Scot National Entitlement Card (Young Scot NEC) to access free bus travel. For more information:

Common Purpose – GLASGOW 50: Online Legacy Campaign for Young People 

Common Purpose are bringing their Legacy programme for 18-25 year olds to Glasgow for the first time in March 2022. The programme is free of charge and they are looking for a group of 100 young people from a diverse range of backgrounds to participate – some in work, some studying, some unemployed. On the programme the young people will tackle a societal challenge:  How do we act together to transform Glasgow into a cleaner, greener place for all? The programme is virtual, but highly interactive with opportunities for participants to engage with peers and established leaders across Glasgow and will run: 3-4 and 7-8 March 2022. Classes are open to 12-18 year old young people from Black and Minority Ethnic communities!

Cooking Classes

Cooking Classes co-run with Propagate will be starting on the 3rd of February and running every Thursday from 5-7pm for 4 weeks. Young people will learn how to prepare healthy meals whilst also learning about the impact food processes have on the environment. All meals prepared will be vegetarian and halal. Open to all young people between the ages of 12-18 years!

Sewing Classes

Sewing Classes co-run with Rags to Riches will be starting on the 31st of January and running every Monday for 4 weeks. Young people will learn how to use a sewing machine and repair clothing. For young people between the ages of 12-18 years old.

Sculpture Classes

Our creative classes will be a space for young people to capture the nature of different elements, such as solar and wind, through sculpture. Class will start on February 2nd and will run every Wednesday until March 16th. We plan to exhibit work made at the Hidden Gardens, to encourage audiences to think about sustainable energy and how we can live greener lives. For young people between the ages of 12-18 years old.

Free mental health support in Glasgow Southside

Wellbeing Services South Glasgow offer mental health support to residents of Glasgow’s Southside. They share self-help resources and online courses on their website. Anyone with a G.P. in the Southside of Glasgow can be referred for treatment. This can be done online or by phoning 0141 232 2555. Written referrals from G.P.’s, CMHT’s and external/internal agencies are also accepted. 

Southside Community Recovery Network

Southside Community Recovery Network is hosting a number of addiction recovery activities and initiatives across the city, including a Southside-based programme. There are also opportunities for volunteering in all recovery groups and cafes. See the image below for times and locations.

Lifelink is offering free wellbeing sessions, which cover life skills aimed at helping you to lead a fulfilling and productive life. Participants can attend as many classes as they like, and they are open to everyone with a Glasgow postcode. Each class will be themed around a certain topic. Move On – SQA Accredited Programme for Young People Aged 16-17

The programme will start on Tuesday 18th  January and will be based at Fareshare Depot, 1070 South Street, Glasgow, G14 0AP. The programme runs for 8 weeks on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and young people will receive a unique training experience with an in-house Live Working Environment in Warehousing. They will also receive a Training Allowance of £55 + £11 travel expenses per week. All safety equipment and PPE provided.
