The Govanhill Roma Community Forum meets every month to discuss issues in the local community. It gives community members the power to decide how funds are allocated and start projects based on what is needed in the community. Join now and have your voice heard! Loc de Joacă playgroup from Daisy Chain

Loc de Joacă is a playgroup aimed at Romanian Roma families with preschool aged children (0-5 years of age). Locality Engagement Forums Annual Survey

Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership are asking people to complete their survey to help plan upcoming Locality Engagement Forums in Spring 2022. Locality Engagement Forums exist to provide a space for members of the community to come together to discuss issues, themes and listen to what is happening and relevant in the South, North East and North West of Glasgow. Join the Rumpus Room Studio Committee

Rumpus Room is looking for young people interested in art and activism who are aged 16+ and based (living, working or learning) in Govanhill to join their studio committee to direct the future of their programme! Free journalism skills training course from Greater Govanhill

Greater Govanhill is launching a free training course which will, over two months, introduce young people who are typically under-represented in the media to a variety of journalism skills including interviewing, video producing, writing and podcasting. For young people aged 16-24. No previous experience required. First block runs 13 March – 8 April. Second block runs 20 April – 4 May. Deadline to apply: 3 March. Private Lane Toolkit from GCC

A private lane toolkit has been launched by Glasgow City Council (GCC) to help residents and owners understand more about the ownership and maintenance responsibilities of any adjoining lanes to their property. Funding is also available to further support owners of private lanes to improve the overall environmental quality of these shared spaces. Deadline to apply: Friday 11 March 2022. #ShiftThePower Scotland Comic Relief Fund

#ShiftThePower supports organisations with passionate people to make meaningful change in their communities. In 2022, the fund will be open to grassroots organisations and charities with an income of £250,000 or less whose work fits one of two strategic themes:

  1. Children Survive and Thrive – Supporting children to survive and thrive during the first years of life (0-5 years old) through targeted work and opportunities for children and families facing disadvantage.
  2. Mental Health Matters – Supporting people with mental health issues or challenges to share their stories, live free from stigma and discrimination, and build positive relationships and experiences.

Let’s take care of our home – multilingual visual resource

Following a request from a group of residents, the Thriving Places team worked with local people and colleagues from Govanhill Housing Association, to create a multilingual poster with simple visuals to help residents keep their closes and backcourts clean. It contains information like where and how to store personal items and the correct way to dispose of rubbish. Lifelink wellbeing sessions

Lifelink are offering online wellbeing sessions to anyone with a Glasgow postcode. The 2-hour classes are delivered via video to the group by experienced Lifelink facilitators. They cover life skills aimed at helping you to lead a fulfilling and productive life. You can register directly for these classes without the need for any pre-assessment or discussion. Free mental health support in Glasgow Southside

Wellbeing Services South Glasgow offer mental health support to residents of Glasgow’s Southside. They share self-help resources and online courses on their website. Anyone with a G.P. in the Southside of Glasgow can be referred for treatment. This can be done online or by phoning 0141 232 2555. Written referrals from G.P.’s, CMHT’s and external/internal agencies are also accepted. 


Southside Community Recovery Network

Southside Community Recovery Network is hosting a number of addiction recovery activities and initiatives across the city, including a Southside-based programme.

Supporting Communities Safely – Ventilation survey

Community Groups can access the Scottish Government’s Business Ventilation Fund to carry out required adaptations to their buildings. To gauge uptake of the fund and to ensure that it is meeting needs, organisations are being asked to complete this 10-minute survey by Thursday 3 March. Results will be shared after the deadline and used to support groups adapting their premises.
