Community
A number of other learning and literacy opportunities are available in Govanhill. Glasgow Life manages Govanhill Library, in Calder Street, and Govanhill Neighbourhood Centre, in Daisy Street. Glasgow Life also has dedicated programmes for ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), information technology and adult literacy and numeracy.
As well as its collection of books, the library offers a variety of services and activities, including internet access, community language material (Chinese, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu), events and activities for all ages and study spaces.
The neighbourhood centre offers a variety of rooms and spaces for hire and is home to an array of support groups, arts and music initiatives, sports, language classes, local meetings and other voluntary sector activity.
Govanhill Community Development Trust offers English and Literacy classes. We are also in the process of becoming an accredited training centre so that all of our learners can receive SVQ modules in recognition of their learning.
