Health
The three practices at Govanhill Health Centre and Butterbiggins Medical Practice play a vital role in maintaining and improving local health.
The services provided at the Health Centre include a dedicated EU Team, which works with the Czech, Slovak and Romanian communities to provide culturally appropriate and/or translated support. The team offers a range of home-based supports and also delivers a drop-in from the local Sandyford clinic. As well as GP consultations, the Butterbiggins Medical Centre offers a wide range of clinics and healthcare services.

The New Victoria Hospital offers a state of the art new hospital facility a short distance from Govanhill. In addition to outpatient clinics, day surgery and diagnostic services, the hospital provides a number of specialist services such as cardiology and gynaecology. There is also a Minor Injuries Unit with its own dedicated entrance for rapid access to a highly skilled clinical team. The unit is open seven days a week 9am – 9pm.
A broad range of other services, such as opticians, dentists and pharmacists, are available in Govanhill. NHS24 offers a wealth of useful information online.
The NHS Health Promotion Team is also active in the area managing a number of campaigns to raise awareness of health related issues. A new structure, the Community Oriented Primary Care group, is working to promote closer links between community based health and wellbeing provision and local primary care facilities. The group meets every 5-6 weeks.
